
Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs manager Stuart Baxter, has officially taken the reins as the new Head Coach of Portuguese top-flight club Boavista.
The 71-year-old has signed a contract that will see him at the helm until the conclusion of the next season.
That being said, Baxter faces a daunting challenge upon his arrival in Portugal. Boavista currently occupy the bottom position of the Primeira Liga table with only five matches remaining in the current campaign.
Securing their top-flight status will require a significant turnaround in fortunes, presenting Baxter with a formidable task.

This appointment marks a new chapter in Baxter’s extensive and well-traveled coaching career, which has spanned various continents. While he has managed clubs across the globe, this role at Boavista represents his first foray into Portuguese football.
Following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs, Baxter served as the Technical Director at Swedish outfit Helsingborgs. He also stepped in as interim manager during his time there before ultimately leaving the club in 2023. Now, he returns to the dugout in Portugal, aiming to leverage his vast experience to guide Boavista through a critical juncture in their season.
