Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership to 15 points when they face Sekhukhune United on Wednesday in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
After suffering their second league defeat of the season to TS Galaxy in early February, Sundowns have made a strong recovery. The Brazilians have since won back to back league outings in convincing fashion, scoring seven goals while conceding just twice.
This impressive run has helped them put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack. Currently, Sundowns hold a comfortable 12-point advantage over second-placed Orlando Pirates, who, despite the gap, still have three games in hand.
On the other hand, Sekhukhune United are in excellent form themselves, having climbed to third place in the Betway Premiership standings. Their recent 1-0 victory over Chippa United on Saturday demonstrated their resilience and ability to grind out results.
Like Sundowns, Babina Noko have also won their last two league games and will be eager to strengthen their position in the top three with a home victory over the league leaders.
Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso confirmed that star midfielder Themba Zwane will be available before the season ends, although he is not yet ready to return to action.
Tashreeq Matthews and Grant Kekana are set to return after serving their suspensions, but Bathusi Aubaas could miss the match due to an injury he sustained in the game against TS Galaxy.
Sekhukhune United are expected to have a fully fit squad, except for Njabulo Ncobo, who is unlikely to recover from injury in time for this week’s fixture.
