Cape Town City will be looking for a successive Betway Premiership victory when they face Orlando Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.
The Citizens secured a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in new head coach’s Muhsin Ertugral’s first game in charge since taking over from Eric Tinkler.
It was just a fourth win of the season for the Cape-based club, with the result lifting the club onto 14 points in 11th place on the standings.
Pirares are, meanwhile, in a much healthier second place with 27 points and nine wins from their opening 10 games.
Jose Riveiro last guided his inform team to a 3-0 CAF Champions League win over Stade d’Abijan, after a 1-0 league win over Magesi.
Following his side’s recent victory Ertugral told iDiski Times says he has changed as a coach, following his time as a Technical Assistant with the Turkish national side.
He said: “When I left South Africa, obviously the chance for me being in the highest level, I have now had the chances to work with [some of] the best football players in the world, very valuable players, one by one.
“And I changed also myself, my thinking, and we need to adapt to that. You have suddenly players that has unbelievable, tremendous possibilities. So for that, it became more, one on one situation that you talk.
“These big meetings with 20 players, I’m not a fan anymore. We sat down, discuss, I want to have this feedback from the players. In South Africa, when you sit as a foreigner, you come in, which you have in Europe, players won’t talk. So it’s a bit of a challenge that you have. You need to feedback. In the end, they need to go and play.”
On his side’s CAF win, Riveiro added on FARPost: “There are two more games to play. It is in our hands to find ourselves in the quarter-finals. But. It is not done, not even close to advancing to the next round because we still have to play two more tough games.
“But today we have proved that we can compete in a good way with everybody one more time. It is not the first time we have done it, and the guys showed it.
“However, it was an incredible performance from the guys from the first minute till the last whistle. I think the attitude was that of a team that wanted to do something special, keep growing, and achieve things together.”
