European hopefuls Bodø/Glimt will be determined to close the gap in the Eliteserien title race with a victory here against Fredrikstad.

Under the guidance of Kjetil Knutsen, the Norwegian powerhouse has dominated recent history, clinching the league crown in 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

That being said, this season hasn’t gone to plan. Ahead of their showdown at the Nye Fredrikstad Stadion, Bodø/Glimt find themselves fifth with 23 points—13 adrift of leaders Viking FK. Fortunately, Superlaget hold four games in hand, offering a lifeline in a chaotic title race.

The form table doesn’t give us much insight and recent inconsistency remains a concern. Their last three outings have produced just one win, one draw, and one defeat—far from title-winning form.

Upon closer inspection, there may be a turn in the tide. Since the beginning of May, Knutsen’s men have scored 18 goals in the Norwegian topflight – only log leaders Viking (19) scored more during that time from all topflight clubs.

Fredrikstad, meanwhile, head into the clash riding high after snapping a six-match winless streak in spectacular fashion. Trailing 2-0 to Molde, Andreas Hagen’s men scored four goals in the final 10 minutes to seal a sensational 4-2 victory.

Now, buoyed by momentum and home support, they’ll host the reigning champions and look to shake up the standings with another upset at Fredrikstad Stadion.

As far as the history books are concerned, Bodø/Glimt have lost only twice in their last 11 meetings with Fredrikstad, racking up five wins in the process. I expect that trend to continue on Wednesday evening.
