AmaZulu’s co-coach, Arthur Zwane, was chuffed with his team’s performance following their crucial 1-0 victory over Magesi.
The match, held at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, showcased the quality and determination Zwane has been instilling in his squad.
“AmaZulu are a big team and they don’t deserve to be at the bottom, fighting for survival,” said Zwane.
“The team should be competing for positions one and two but we are a work in progress. We belong with the best and there’s a lot to expect from this group of players.”
Bongani Zungu emerged as the hero of the day, scoring the only goal in what marked his first start for AmaZulu since joining last month.
Zwane was quick to praise Zungu’s impact, noting his quality and the meticulous effort put into improving the midfielder’s match fitness.
“Bongani is a quality player,” added Zwane. “He’s got experience, he’s played at the highest level, so it was a case of us building him up. We knew we were going to need him as time went on.”
The victory also saw a return for goalkeeper Veli Mothwa, who had been sidelined since September due to previous errors.
