AmaZulu will look to return to winning ways at home to Royal AM in the Betway Premiership on Friday.
After starting their season with four successive league defeats that saw former head coach Pablo Franco Martin walk away from his post, the club have since managed two league wins.
Under the guidance of co-head coaches Vusimuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane, the team have beaten Chippa United and Richards Bay.
But they come into this game on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy to sit in 14th place on the standings with six points from seven games, level with 15th placed Magesi in the drop zone.
Royal AM occupy 12th position, with eight points, and last drew 2-2 with Kaizer Chiefs after two successive losses, to Polokwane City and Golden Arrows.
Ahead of the game, Vilakazi said on the club’s website: “We strongly believe there are a lot of positives we can take going forward. We just need to align a few areas, especially our defensive structure.
“Teams are scoring [against AmaZulu] very easily, but we find it very difficult to score goals, even though we do create scoring opportunities.”
Royal AM head coach added on IOL: “We know the importance of this game. We know it’s not going to be an easy game against AmaZulu. It’s a derby, and you know the nature of the derby.
“We need points. We’ve only had one win so far, so it’s very important for us to change that and try to get those points, so we can move up the table.”
