Vilakazi: I'm here to learn and win

Sibusiso Vilakazi is looking forward to an injury-free season with TS Galaxy following his switch from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 32-year-old midfielder struggled for game-time with the Brazilians over the past few seasons, as torn ligaments and Achilles tendon ruptures kept him largely on the sidelines.

He managed a total of 138 appearances over six years, scoring 29 goals and creating a further 21, but played just 11 times last term, setting up one goal.

With his injuries now reportedly behind him, Vilakazi says nothing can hold him back from a successful 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign.

Vilakazi said in the Sowetan: "With the injuries, you can't do much about it, it's a thing of the past now. The only thing I can control now is the season that's coming.

"What happened at Sundowns, for me, was a success. That chapter is now closed. I believe every good story has an end, and that's how it came about."

Vilakazi added that winning a trophy is also a possibility at Galaxy.

"It's a breath of fresh air. I'm looking forward to helping TS Galaxy. They also have a history of success with trophies, they won the Nedbank Cup [in 2019]," he said.

"I'm here to help the team, I'm here to learn and win trophies. That's what it's all about at the end of the day."
