Hollywoodbets Super League: Gameweek 14 Preview

After the exciting return of the Hollywoodbets Super League last weekend, which saw 21 goals scored in eight games, the action is back again this weekend. Defending champions turn their focus to the COSAFA Women's Champions League at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday. Still, the teams on their heels in the league table will be looking to take advantage, while Sundowns is distracted. Here's a look at this weekend's fixtures.

Saturday 6  August

City Lads 22/10
Draw 2/1
Durban Ladies 12/10
(15:00)

After winning just once in their previous 11 games, City Lads finally managed to win last time out, drubbing Golden Ladies by 4-2. This was their second win in 12 games and didn't move them further from the relegation zone. They will be looking to build on this win this coming weekend against a Durban Ladies team that picked up a draw away at Bloemfontein Celtic last weekend, keeping them in the top 10. I'm tipping a win for the visiting side here.

UWC 1/7
Draw 6/1
Golden Ladies 12/1
(15:00)

UWC had their four-game winning streak snapped by Ma-Indies last weekend and dropped to the fourth position, while Golden Ladies lost to remain winless in this campaign. They come up against a wounded animal this weekend who will be looking to get back to winning ways to stay in touch with the title-chasing pack. UWC has lost just twice in 11 games this season and will look to take advantage of their games in hand in this game. This should be an easy win for UWC.

UJ FC 33/10
Draw 23/10
JVW 8/10
(15:00)

UJ FC did well to draw the first half against Mamelodi Sundowns in their last game despite losing by three goals to one. They face a JVW side that had to come from a goal down to win 3-2 last weekend, taking their goals scored tally for the season to 28, the second highest goals this season. While UJ has been strong in attack this season, their defense has left a lot to be desired and will need to be on top form to keep the Blue Diamonds at bay. Double Chance: Draw or JVW win.

TUT FC 11/10
Draw 22/10
Ma-Indies Ladies 22/10
(15:00)

This is the biggest game this weekend. Second positioned TUT hosts third positioned Ma-Indies in what should be a highly contested clash between these sides. Ma-Indies did well to win a tricky game against UWC last time, and now they face TUT, who are unbeaten in their previous eight games and have only lost once all season. Both teams have scored 23 goals and have conceded a similar amount of goals. This will be a tight game, but home advantage should come into play for TUT, with a win moving them ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns in the top spot. I'm backing a TUT win.

Thunderbirds 9/10
Draw 22/10
Richmond United 28/10
(15:00)

Thunderbirds got back to winning ways last time by defeating relegation candidates Tsunami Queens and will now look to build a bit of consistency by going for a win against 10th-positioned Richmond. The visiting side lost 2-0 against TUT last time out. Thunderbirds will be happy with a clean sheet they got in the previous game with their goal difference on a solid 0, while Richmond remains one of the teams that are a threat going forward. Double chance: Draw or win for Thunderbirds.

Sunday 7 August

Coal City Wizards 15/4
Draw 23/10
Bloemfontein Celtic 7/10
(15:00)

Coal City Wizards failed to put some distance between themselves and relegation strugglers last weekend, losing 2-0 to First Touch FC, who have now moved above them to 11th position on the log. It doesn't get any easier for them as they now face Celtic, who haven't lost in their previous four outings. The Wizards have only won four times this season and lost every other game they've played. A win for the visiting side can move them as high as the fourth position, but they now need to start turning their draws into wins. With seven draws, Celtic leads the draw charts in the league and may live to regret it come the end of the season, seeing as they are only eight points behind log leaders. I'm backing a Celtic win.

Vasco Da Gama 15/4
Draw 23/10
First Touch 7/10
(15:00)

The home side will take a lot of positives from their 3-2 loss against JVW last time out. They've struggled to score goals this season, averaging a goal in each game, but they managed to score two in that game. They still have issues at the back, though, and it's no surprise they've conceded the third most goals this season. They come against a team that seems to have a knack for goals and showed it last time out when they won 2-0. A consecutive win for First Touch will bring them closer to the top 10 and push them further away from the relegation zone. I'm backing a First Touch win.

TREBLE @ 7/1

Durban Ladies Win 12/10
TUT Win 11/10
Bloem Celtic Win 7/10
