Motsepe: Fans are the missing piece

Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Thlopie Motsepe wants to see the club's supporters fill their games to capacity next season.

Fans of all clubs were forced to stay away from matches for almost two seasons as a result of the spread of the coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns that followed.

While stadiums have opened back up and supporters are starting to return, there has always been a low attendance rate at games not featuring any of the so-called glamour sides.

But Motsepe hopes to see this change and wrote in the Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine: "I believe that the missing piece for our club to become a dominant force in African football, is for more supporters to join us at the stadiums.

"The day Mamelodi Sundowns supporters are known for filling our stadiums to capacity will be the day that we truly become the biggest team on the continent."

Motsepe added that the club are making efforts to improve the 'match-day experience': "Next season, as a club, we will do everything we can to make your stadium experience worth your money; with music, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.

"Your title-winning team will only ask one thing of you: that you join Bafana Ba Style in your numbers like never before! Together, we can create a new culture for our club."
