Mhango relishing new chapter

Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango is looking forward to the next chapter in his footballing career with AmaZulu.

Mhango has swapped the black of Orlando Pirates for the green of AmaZulu with Tapelo Xoki moving in the opposite direction.

The 29-year-old's Buccaneers career began with a bang as he bagged 15 goals in his maiden campaign. The following season he was still first-choice but scored only five times.

The past season was one the diminutive striker would like to forget, making just 10 appearances all season due to reported ill discipline. His demotion came despite him having a fantastic Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January where he scored thrice in five matches including the goal of the tournament for his wonder strike against Morocco.

After an unhappy end to his Pirates stay, the pacey attacker has now been granted a new lease of life in Durban and is relishing the opportunity.

"I'm very excited to join the Usuthu team, I can't wait to start a new challenge and then meet new players, new team, new jersey. I want to win trophies and grow as a player," Mhango told Usuthu's media team.

"I want to help the team achieve the goals and personally, as a player, win trophies; that's what I am looking for. So my goal as a player is to help the club achieve trophies; that's my goal."

Mhango is a seasoned PSL player, making 166 appearances across spells with Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Bidvest Wits and Pirates.
