Mosimane questions Moroccan final

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane admits he was surprised to see Morocco awarded the CAF Champions League final once again.

Mosimane's Red Devils defended their 2020 title when they defeated Kaizer Chiefs in last season's final at Stade Mohammed V in Morocco.

With a 4-0 lead over Algeria's ES Setif from their first-leg semi-final, Al Ahly are now on course to make the showepiece match against expected opponents Wydad AC.

The Moroccan side hold a 3-1 first-leg lead over Angola's Petro de Luanda and still have their home game to play.

Senegal was the expected host nation of this year's CAF final, with only South Africa and Morocco also making official bids before the South African Football Association withdrew their bid.

CAF though recently announced Senegal's withdraw, with Mosimane posting on social media: "When the Caf Champions League group stages games were finished, rumours were saying SA is hosting.

"After semi-finals game were decided, there was a loud silence on the country to host the final. Then after the first leg of the semi finals, suddenly Morocco is hosting."

He added on iDiski Times: "My only thing is, of course, a neutral venue, I think it’s only fair, that's my only decision – whether it's home twice, home, away whatever – I think there are rules with CAF and I think they will follow the rules."
