Brandon Truter Backs AmaZulu to Finish On a High

AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter has confidence his side can keep winning and finish the current DStv Premiership season on a high.

The former Swallows boss was brought in to Usuthu on an interim basis following the sacking of Benni McCarthy after the club's elimination from the CAF Champions League.

AmaZulu were also floundering in the league after ending as runners-up to Mameldi Sundowns last season, but a couple of wins has seen the side move up to seventh place with five games to go.

Truter led his charges to a 1-0 victory over bottom-side Baroka and a 1-0 defeat of Maritzburg United, last time out.

Ahead of facing second-placed Royal AM on Sunday, who they trail by nine points, Truter said in the Citizen: "I wouldn't have taken the job if I didn't back myself and also doing research and knowing AmaZulu with the quality of players available.

"I had no doubt the mandate will be reached. I feel confident about reaching that mandate and even confident about maybe qualifying for the Champions League again by finishing second.

"So, that's still possible with 15 points to play for. I back my boys. There's quality throughout this team."
