Mngqithi: We are not used to losing

Mamelodi Sundowns

Manqoba Mngqithi admits his players are smarting after their first league defeat of the season.

It took a 75th minute goal from Augustine Mulenga to sink Mamelodi Sundowns at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium and lift AmaZulu into third place on the DStv Premiership standings.

The Brazilians still hold a massive 16-point lead over AmaZulu and second placed Orlando Pirates but can no longer boast being the only 'invincible' team in the league.

Speaking ahead of taking on 11th-placed Marumo Gallants for their final game of the year, on Thursday, Mngqithi says a quick turnaround is important as he tried to take positives from the loss.

He told SuperSport: "I am sure the players are hurting, the changing room is not the same because we are not used to losing matches, not even a friendly match for that matter.

"We always go all out, even during training we are a team that always wants to win everything from a training session up until the match.

"Now that we've lost maybe it will have some positive spin-off where that anger of losing the match might give us a little bit more impetuous to go into the next match and put up a little bit more of a fight."
