John Maduka: Sharpness is an issue

John Maduka will be hoping his side can produce two halves of good football when they take on Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.

Royal AM have become this season's late goal specialists with a number of points retrieved from a losing position.

They scored late on to draw with Marumo Gallants and beat SuperSport United in recent weeks, while so nearly overturning a three-nil deficit to ultimately lose 3-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

But last week, Maduka's charges were held to a goalless draw with Golden Arrows, having managed not to concede in the first half, but also not scoring as well.

The Royal AM boss said on SuperSport: "I think we started the game well. But once we got into the final third I felt we lacked a bit of sharpness, where we played too many passes without any penetration. We instead should have played it wider where we could get those crosses into the box.

"But on the other end, our defensive organisation was far, far better than we did against Sundowns.

"I think we were in charge of the game, it was just that we were not sharp enough in the attacking third."

Royal AM head into Sunday's encounter in fourth place on the DStv Premiership standings with 23 points, while Chiefs are in second place with 25 points, but having played a game more.
