Deon Hotto says Orlando Pirates were able to defeat an in-form Stellenbosch side 3-0 by sticking to their game plan.

Collins Makgapa netted the opening goal at the Danie Craven Stadium before Hotto scored with goals in the 22nd and 48th minutes.

The Namibian striker scooped the Man of the Match award for his performance as he helped Bucs return to winning ways.

The DStv Premiership club lost 2-1 to Kaizer Chiefs before a goalless draw with Golden Arrows last time out.

Speaking after Wednesday's game, Hotto said in the Citizen: "The coaches told us what we should expect from Stellenbosch. I think the game plan worked very well for us, playing behind the third line, and ja, it worked. We are grateful because it is a stepping stone to our upcoming games.

"I am grateful for scoring two goals, it is something that I have been working on and at least today it came through. I've been working hard for it and I am grateful. But they are coming (goals), I hope I am going to score more in the future."

Pirates next play Liberian side LPRC Oilers in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup play-off on Sunday.
