Williams: We want to start on a positive note

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams

Ronwen Williams is ready to lead his country out against Zimbabwe in their 2022 World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The SuperSport United skipper was named the new Bafana Bafana captain by head coach Hugo Broos, with Percy Tau his deputy.

South Africa take on the Warriors at the Zimbabwe National Sports Stadium ahead of facing Ghana's Black Stars on Monday.

Ahead of the tie, William said on Kick Off: "We are looking forward to the game and it has been a long time coming. We couldn’t wait for this once the draw came out.

"We were all excited and there was a lot of talk back home because we know the rivalry between the two countries and obviously, I play with a lot of Zim players at my club.

"So, we are looking forward to the game and it is going to be a tough one. We know each other quite well because a lot of the Zim players are based in the PSL.

"It is going to be a tough one but one that we are looking forward to. We want to start on a positive note."
