Austin Dube reflects on dream Chiefs debut and Bafana call-up

Kaizer Chiefs defender Austin Dube

Kaizer Chiefs signing Austin Dube has reflected on his meteoric rise after making his Amakhosi debut and receiving a Bafana Bafana call-up in the space of a week.

Dube made his bow off the bench in Chiefs' last match against Baroka since joining the club from GladAfrica Championship outfit Richards Bay FC.

He is also in Hugo Broos' squad for Bafana's opening two 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe today and Ghana on Monday.

And the 28-year-old said it was important for him not to lose focus despite having to wait a while for his Chiefs debut

"It felt great that it finally happened. I knew it was going to come someday, I just did not know when," the Bafana Bafana defender told the Amakhosi website.

"I had to stay ready for it, I am very grateful that I played my first official game in the colors of Kaizer Chiefs.

"The national team call-up is an honour, being called to represented the country is always an honour, everything happened so fast for me, I made my debut for Chiefs a few days ago and now I am at the national team. I am honored to be part of the national team, I feel happy and these are joyful moments for me."
