Sekgota: I am ready to work

Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota

Kgaogelo Sekgota says he has his sights firmly set on winning trophies with Kaizer Chiefs.

The 24-year-old impressed as a second-half substitute before scoring the decisive penalty in the 4-3 shootout Carling Black Label Cup win over rivals Orlando Pirates last Sunday.

Amakhosi have not won a major domestic trophy in six years, but have made their intentions known this season with a number of exciting signings, not least the former Swallows man.

Sekgota said on Kick Off: "It's a daily prayer for me to achieve trophies with the club and help to get victories for the supporters and for me as an individual.

"Obviously, I have to study my teammates, I have to respect the tactics of the coach and try to do my best for the club and for me as a player."

The former Bidvest Wits and Vitoria Setubal attacker played 26 games in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and creating two.

He added: "I have realised that Chiefs is one of the biggest teams in South Africa and Africa. The most important thing is hard work and dedication for the club to give them good results. To the fans, I would like to say there are more good things coming.

"My family are excited for me. I have to adapt to the excitement and focus on the work. It is a huge achievement for me as a player. It is a big club, with good, experienced players around me and I am ready to work."
