Petersen: There is always someone pushing you to do better

Chiefs' goalkeepers

Brandon Petersen says he can take his goalkeeping to another level following his move to Kaizer Chiefs.

The 26-year-old former Bidvest Wits shotstopper joined Amakhosi this season where he will face competition from Itumeleng Khune, Daniel Akpeyi, Bruce Bvuma as well as young keeper Karabo Molefe.

Petersen has already staked a claim for a starting berth with his penalty-shootout heroics against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup win last week.

And ahead of facing Mamelodi Sundowns in an MTN8 quarter-final clash, Petersen explained that having strong players around him is a huge motivating factor.

He said on Kick Off: "Having that camaraderie between the goalkeepers and seeing the way they work together and push one another, for me, it was an eye-opener. It is encouraging me to work hard.

"We saw in the CAF Champions League, with the changes that Chiefs had with the goalkeepers, they put one in and he performs. That is something that makes me smile.

"Because there is always me pushing someone else and someone pushing me, it will help. In the first training session the guys made me feel at home and for me, it has been a blast."
