Manqoba: Baxter doing great job at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi said new Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter deserved credit for the way his team are playing despite losing in their shoot-out in the MTN8 quarter-final on Sunday.

Downs were tied 2-2 with Chiefs after extra-time and won the penalty shoot-out 2-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

In an interview with SuperSport after the game Downs co-coach Manqoba credited Amakhosi counter-part Baxter for job well done at his club with limited time in charge.

"I want to give credit to Stuart," the Manqoba said after the game.

"I think he organises his team very well. With the little he may have in terms of resources at time, I really believe he makes it very difficult for any team that plays against Chiefs.

"This game could easily have gone either way because on transition they were a problem. On set-pieces they were a problem. We must give credit to him. He's a very good coach and I like him.

"It was our wish to go to the semi-finals and the boys fought very hard for it. We must give credit to them. They worked very hard.

"I was proud but more than anything else we still have another step to go. We must take it step by step. But it's our wish, our desire that we can win this trophy and we are going all out for it," he added.
