Steve Barker's charges come into the clash on the back of a penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup last week Friday.

Despite the cup defeat, Stellies have enjoyed a good run in the league in recent weeks. They won three consecutive games before the 2-1 defeat at Black Leopards.

The hosts occupy 11th position in the league table and could climb up to seventh with three points.

Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa are hoping to put their recent disappointments behind them as they lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows in the Premiership before a defeat by the same scoreline against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 last weekend.

Regardless of the recent downswing, head coach Kaitano Tembo could still lead his men into the top two with a victory as they currently sit in fourth place, only two points behind Orlando Pirates.

"We will try do to our outmost best and make sure that we finish probably second or third on the log standings in the league," Tembo told the media, according to Times Live.

"That would give us an opportunity to play in Africa next season‚ which is important."

He added: "Pirates recently went on a good run of five wins in a row and now they are sitting second position on the log. Players are aware that if they do the same‚ we will significantly improve our position."

The last time Stellenbosch met SuperSport they drew 1-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium with Kudakwashe Mahachi and Waseem Isaacs finding the back of the net.
