Lebusa has worn the armband in recent weeks in the injury-enforced absence of Hlompho Kekana. And the former Ajax Cape Town defender, who captained the Urban Warriors at a relatively young age, has stepped up to the plate with aplomb.

With Kekana 34 and set to retire in the next season or two, 27-year-old Lebusa has been linked with becoming the next Sundowns skipper on a permanent basis and Mosimane has fuelled the speculation by talking up Lebusa's leadership qualities.

"I'm not saying he [Lebusa] is the next captain. I’m just saying he has got the ability and we’ve got a lot of captains at the club," the Masandawana mentor told KickOff.

"He was the skipper at Ajax [Cape Town] for a very long time. He has got the mental strength and the right attitude. He is a good boy and good person.

"Captains are not only chosen because you are a good footballer. It is a guy who should carry the team, players should give respect to him. Mosa has done it and why not."
