Orlando Pirates could still find their way back to the top of the Premiership this season, according to former Bucs midfielder Lebohang 'Cheeseboy' Mokoena.

Rhulani Mokwena's charges have made a slow start to the season and are languishing in eighth position with nine points from their opening seven Premiership outings.

However, Mokoena reckons there's more than enough time left in the campaign for Pirates to find results and build momentum as they aim to climb the standings once more.

"Orlando Pirates are not getting the results they want and the departure of Micho created a lot of problems, they had to change a lot of stuff," Mokoena told Kickoff.

"But I would say it's still early for them in the Absa Premiership, once they get momentum you will see the difference."

"For him [Rhulani] personally, it's still early to judge him.

"I've worked with him as well, I think he's not a fearful coach. For him to take that Pirates hotseat at his age shows that the man's got character and spirit as well.

"Having his family, being a former Pirates member as well, helps him to be stronger. Hopefully results will come, he plays good football.

"But what I'm seeing is they are conceding a lot of goals. Maybe if they shut the backdoor they can probably win matches."

The Soweto giants will take on Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium on 26 October for their next league clash after the international break.
