Erasmus satisfied but not entirely happy after CT City debut

Cape Town City striker Kermit Erasmus says he was glad to make his debut against SuperSport United on Saturday, though he wasn't happy with his performance.

City won the contest 1-0 thanks to a late Gift Links goal in the 89th minute at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Nonetheless, the encounter marked first team football for the first time in close to a year for Erasmus.

The former Orlando Pirates star endured a generally poor spell in Europe with France's Stade Rennais and Lens, Sweden's AFC Eskilstuna and Portugal's Vitoria Setubal.

The forward penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Citizens in December.

The 28-year-old told reporters after the game: "I am satisfied but not entirely happy.

"If you look at the final third, I think I could have done better. But it's my first game after let's say a year.

"I am happy to get a chance to play again. I had a little bit of a strain but I kept on going because I have not been playing for a year.

"I just want to enjoy myself and be on the field of play."

The Bafana Bafana international picked up a minor niggle against United but insists he will be fit to face Baroka this weekend.

He concluded: "It's not too bad. It's a small strain. I will be back [for the] next game against Baroka."
