Solinas: Kaizer Chiefs is SA's best club

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has urged his players to adopt a winning mentality in order to satisfy demands at the "best club in South Africa".

Amakhosi have gone three years without a trophy and have got their 2018/19 season off to a stuttering start. They currently sit seventh on the Premiership table with 14 points from 11 games and were eliminated from the MTN8 semifinals by SuperSport United.

However, Solinas has talked up Chiefs' chances of clawing back lost ground in the Premiership title race, while the Glamour Boys also have an opportunity to land silverware in the Telkom Knockout, with a quarter-final clash against Matsatsantsa on Sunday lying in wait.

"We must improve our character. Playing for Kaizer Chiefs is very difficult, it's not easy. The expectations are very high, the club is a very big club," said Solinas, according to Kick Off.

"We need a strong mentality and a strong character. When I say we need to develop a winning mentality, it's about this. We need to improve in our approach and mental impact. We need to manage the pressure."

On the responsibility that comes with playing for Amakhosi, Solinas said: "Kaizer Chiefs is Kaizer Chiefs, everybody needs to understand this. Kaizer Chiefs is a special club, it's the best club in South Africa and one of the best on the continent.

"It's a privilege when you play for or coach Kaizer Chiefs. It's an honour and we need to understand this. We need a strong character and a strong mentality.

"But I am optimistic of the future, we're fighting ... we're fighting, don't worry."
