English Premier League: Gameweek 10 Preview

English Premier League: Gameweek 10 Preview
The English Premier League showed last weekend why it really is the best league in the world. Manchester United rose from the ashes only to be denied maximum points at Stamford Bridge, drawing 2-2 against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Manchester City cruised to a 5-0 victory, while Liverpool didn’t have it easy against Huddersfield, scraping past the relegation-strugglers with a 1-0 win. It’s becoming increasingly tight at the top of the table with Tottenham and Arsenal also winning to stay within touching distance of the top, being two points behind Man City and Liverpool, and level with Chelsea.

Liverpool 1/8
Draw 8/1
Cardiff 22/1
(16:00)

Liverpool will look to continue their blistering start to the season when they host newcomers, Cardiff, who claimed their first victory of the campaign last weekend. The Reds had to dig deep against Huddersfield, narrowly beating the Terriers 1-0, although Jurgen Klopp had numerous key absentees in his line-up due to injuries. Cardiff showed how frail their defence can be, conceding loads of chances to Fulham. Liverpool are yet to concede at Anfield this season, with another clean sheet expected. Back the Home Win to Nil market at 13/20.

Brighton 2/1
Draw 21/10
Wolves 15/10
(16:00)

Brighton have stepped up big time in recent weeks, claiming back-to-back wins, while managing successive clean sheets in that run. The only downfall in their victory at Newcastle last weekend was the injury to Glenn Murray, with the striker being rushed to hospital after a clash of heads. Wolves were trounced at home last time out, letting in two goals against Watford in the space of 58 seconds. Away from home, Wolves have been relatively decent, claiming a point at Old Trafford, while also winning at West Ham and Crystal Palace. Under 2.5 Goals is tipped here at 11/20.

Fulham 7/4
Draw 11/4
Bournemouth 14/10
(16:00)

Fulham dropped down to the relegation zone after a disappointing 4-2 loss at Cardiff, to be overtaken by their fellow newcomers. The Cottagers are now winless in six league encounters, losing three on the spin. Bournemouth were unfortunately denied at home to Southampton, drawing blank against the Saints. The Cherries are still unbeaten in three games, but haven’t had the most joyful time on the road this campaign, losing two of their four matches. Goals are expected when these two sides square off this Saturday. Back Over 2.5 Goals at 5/10.

Watford 15/20
Draw 26/10
Huddersfield 4/1
(16:00)

Watford will be hoping to keep the momentum flowing when they welcome Huddersfield to Vicarage Road, searching for their second consecutive win in the league. Their 2-0 win over Wolves saw them leap up to seventh. Huddersfield have been dismal this campaign and are still searching for their first win of the season. They seem destined to go down, with very little David Wagner can do about it with the players he has at his disposal. Watford are a banker here at 15/20 – get on!

Southampton 21/20
Draw 9/4
Newcastle 28/10
(16:00)

Southampton’s winless run stretched to five games, although they did well to snatch a point at Bournemouth, sharing the spoils in a goalless draw. Despite the Saints’ struggles this season, they come into the game in better form than their opponents, who are yet to emerge victorious this campaign. The Toon Army are rock bottom with just two points, losing seven times. It’s tough to separate these two sides at the moment, so I would suggest taking the draw at 9/4.

Leicester City 23/20
Draw 24/10
West Ham 49/20
(18:30)

Claude Puel will be hoping for a turnaround performance from his Leicester City team after losing two games on the bounce. The Foxes are one of three teams yet to draw a single match this campaign, so when they’re not winning, things seem to turn sour for Puel’s side. West Ham are off the back of two defeats of their own, with their most recent loss coming at home to Tottenham. The Hammers will be without Ukrainian star, Andriy Yarmolenko, who is out for up to six months with an Achilles injury. Still, the Hammers have enough firepower to breach through a Foxes defence which has lacked leadership. Back Over 2.5 Goals here at 19/20.

Sunday 28 October

Burnley 8/1
Draw 4/1
Chelsea 7/20
(15:30)

Burnley dropped down one place to move to 15th spot, after a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City. The Clarets were flat and never posed any threat towards the champions. Chelsea come off the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw against Manchester United. The Blues are the only team in England yet to taste defeat across all competitions so far, and they should claim maximum points at Burnley. Although, against United, Chelsea’s best chances came through David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso, leaving open spaces at the back for Sean Dyche’s men to try to upset the applecart. Take Chelsea to Win & Both Teams to Score at a valuable 43/20.

Crystal Palace 29/10
Draw 28/10
Arsenal 9/10
(15:30)

Crystal Palace face a daunting task of facing the league’s most in-form team when they welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park in what promises to be a thrilling London derby. The Eagles have been disappointing this term, losing three games in a row, while they also haven’t scored at home in the league this season. Arsenal made it 10 wins in a row in all competitions on Monday night when they bulldozed their way past Leicester City. Unai Emery has got the club challenging again, and away from home, the Gunners have scored the most goals in the division. Everything points to an Arsenal win here – get on at 9/10!

Manchester United 7/10
Draw 28/10
Everton 38/10
(18:00)

After two great attacking displays from Manchester United in recent weeks, the aim will be to keep the consistency going and force their way back into the top four. Everton have also been on a rise of their own, winning their last three league encounters. Both sets of managers deserve massive credit after last weekend with Jose Mourinho doing enough to get a point at his old club, Chelsea, while Marco Silva made three changes in the second half that all played a part in Everton’s goals. United have been inconsistent at home, and although they’ve been exciting to watch, their defence has been shocking. Back the Draw & Both Teams to Score at 3/1.

Monday 22 October

Tottenham 3/1
Draw 29/10
Manchester City 8/10
(22:00)

The biggest blockbuster of the weekend will have to wait until Monday night when Tottenham host Manchester City at Wembley. Spurs have flown under the radar this campaign, despite being just two points off the top and winning four games in a row. Harry Kane hasn’t been at his brilliant best, leaving Tottenham to rely on their solid defence to win them games and keep them within touching distance. With City, their defence and attack have been top notch, and it has shown in the table with Pep Guardiola’s men at the top of the crop, scoring 26 and conceding just three. In this fixture last season, Man City were 4-1 victors with Kevin De Bruyne being the star of the show. The Belgian wizard made his return last weekend and will be raring to prove himself in a big game again. My money is on Manchester City here at 8/10.

TREBLE @ 9/2
