Shaw contemplating United future

Luke Shaw and Jose Mourinho of Man United

Luke Shaw is set to re-evaluate his future at Old Trafford in the off-season after coming in for renewed criticism from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old left-back has endured a strained relationship with Mourinho since returning to fitness from a double leg fracture last season.

Shaw appeared to earn back the favour of his manager this term, but things took a turn for the worse on Saturday when he was hauled off at half-time during United's 2-0 win over Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Mourinho publicly criticised the England international once more after the match, claiming that he failed to follow instructions on the pitch in the first half.

Shaw hasn't given up hope of making Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and will consider his situation at the club in the coming months.

"Mourinho's treatment of Luke is an absolute disgrace. If he has a problem with him, the decent thing to do would be to keep it in-house," a source close to the player told Sky Sports News.

"If this kind of abuse happened in any other workplace, there would be a case for constructive dismissal. It's disgusting. A few weeks ago, Mourinho was praising him, now he can't do anything right.

"Luke's a strong lad and he won't let Mourinho ruin his life. He'll consider his future in the summer and is still determined to be part of the England squad heading for Russia."
