There's loads of exciting match-ups in the Spanish La Liga with enticing odds on offer!
Gameweek 4 of the Spanish La Liga sees Real Madrid at the summit of the table on nine points, the only team to win all of their games. Zinedine Zidane’s side will be looking to maintain their perfect start when they take on winless Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday. Barcelona were stunned 2-1 at home by newly-promoted Alaves last Saturday and Luis Enrique will demand better from his players. They’re up against another promoted side, Leganes, but the reigning champions will expect to bounce back strongly. Atletico Madrid are finally off the mark thanks to their 4-0 victory at Celta Vigo. Diego Simeone’s charges will be looking to build on that result when they host Sporting Gijon at the Calderon on Saturday. There’s other enticing matches to look forward to and money to be made this weekend.

Friday 16 September

9/10 Real Betis | Draw 49/20 | Granada 3/1 (20:45)

Real Betis secured their first win of the season in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Valencia thanks to goals from Joaquin Sanchez and Ruben Castro, the latter scoring twice. Gustavo Poyet’s team will be looking to build on that result against winless Granada. Paco Jemez’s side have picked up just a point from their three matches. After drawing 1-1 draw at home to Villarreal in their opening game, Granada suffered back-to-back losses against Las Palmas and Eibar. They’ve let in eight goals, only Espanyol have conceded more (9). Real Betis are unbeaten in their last three meetings against Granada, winning twice. Back the home team at 9/10.

Saturday 17 September

13/1 Leganes | 57/10 | Barcelona 2/11 (13:00)

Newly-promoted Leganes have had an inconsistent start: one win, one draw, one loss. Their last encounter ended in a 2-1 defeat at Sporting Gijon. Asier Garitano’s side will welcome Barcelona to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. The reigning champions suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat against promoted Alaves at the Camp Nou. Barca were guilty of undermining their opponents with Luis Enrique leaving Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta on the bench. Garitano will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Alaves, but the Catalans are unlikely to repeat that mistake. Blessed with three South American maestros in Messi, Suarez and Neymar, Barcelona possess the most potent attack in the world. Barca are tipped to Win Half-time/Full-time at 11/20.

2/9 Atletico Madrid | 9/2 | Sporting Gijon 15/1 (16:15)

Atletico Madrid's season finally sparked into life as they won 4-0 away to Celta Vigo thanks to an Antoine Griezmann double last Saturday. Diego Simeone’s side will be looking to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact when they host Sporting Gijon on Saturday. Gijon have enjoyed a much more positive start to the campaign and were 2-1 winners at home to Leganes as they moved above Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the table. Abelardo Fernandez’s side are unbeaten so far with seven points from three games. Gijon beat Atleti 2-1 in their last meeting at the El Molinon, but Los Colchoneros have won the last five encounters at the Vicente Calderon – keeping three straight clean sheets. Atletico Madrid are tipped to Win Half-time/Full-time at 7/10.

22/10 Eibar | 24/10 | Sevilla 12/10 (18:30)

A last-gasp winner from Sergi Enrich maintained Eibar's positive start to the season as they secured a 2-1 victory away to Granada. The Basque side are now on a two-game winning streak, but they’ll face a stern test against Jorge Sampaoli’s new-look Sevilla. Los Rojiblancos are unbeaten from their three games played, winning twice. They’re also unbeaten in their last five meetings against Eibar with three wins. Sevilla have looked lethal in attack, but the defence still looks a bit shaky. I’m going for Sevilla Win + Both Teams To Score at 29/10.

5/4 Las Palmas | 9/4 | Malaga 23/10 (20:45)

Las Palmas were within minutes of extending their 100 per cent start to three matches at Sevilla but somehow ended up beaten 2-1 after Sampaoli’s side launched an incredible late comeback. Quique Setien’s men will be hoping to return to winning ways against winless Malaga. Juande Ramos’ team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Villarreal last weekend. Prior to that loss, they drew with Osasuna (1-1) and Espanyol (2-2). Malaga will be hoping to earn their first victory of the season, and their record against Las Palmas will give them great confidence. Los Boquerones are unbeaten in their previous four meetings against Las Palmas, winning three times. However, Setien has transformed tiny Las Palmas into a team worth watching. I’m going for draw at 9/4.

Sunday 18 September

7/4 Osasuna | 43/20 | Celta Vigo 16/10 (12:00)

Newly-promoted Osasuna are winless from their three games played, losing back-to-back matches against Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. They’ve netted three times while shipping eight goals in the process. Their opponents, Celta Vigo, have been even worse off, losing all three of their matches, scoring once while conceding seven goals. Celta have quality players and they should come good eventually. They’re worth a punt at 16/10.

17/20 Athletic Bilbao | 5/2 | Valencia 32/10 (16:15)

Athletic Bilbao got their first points of the campaign as a Raul Garcia piledriver proved to be enough to settle a low-quality encounter away to Deportivo La Coruna. Ernesto Valverde will be hoping to build on that result against a Valencia side in disarray. Valencia's wretched start to the campaign continued as they suffered a third straight La Liga defeat at home to Real Betis. Pako Ayestaran will be without captain Enzo Perez who was shown a red card in that game. Los Che have now lost their last six La Liga games, their worst ever run in the competition. Athletic Bilbao are tipped to pile further misery on Valencia.

9/10 Villarreal | 23/10 | Real Sociedad 32/10 (18:30)

Villarreal earned their first win of the new season at the third attempt as first-half goals from Jaume Costa and Nicola Sansone steered them to a 2-0 victory over Malaga at La Rosaleda. Prior to that result, the Yellow Submarine drew with Granada (1-1) and Sevilla (0-0). Real Sociedad have had an inconsistent start: one loss, one win, one draw. Eusebio Sacristan’s side have failed to beat Villarreal in their last eight meetings with four wins and four draws. A tight affair is expected with the draw tipped at 23/10.

8/1 Espanyol | 9/2 | Real Madrid 3/10 (20:45)

Espanyol are still looking for their first La Liga win under Quique Sanchez Flores as Willian Jose cancelled out Pablo Piatti’s opener with only 12 minutes remaining at Anoeta to leave the Catalans languishing in 15th place. Espanyol are still a work in progress and I believe they will get better in time, but they’ll need to be at their best to upset Real Madrid. Los Blancos ran riot at the Bernabeu last Saturday, humbling a poor Osasuna side 5-2. Cristiano Ronaldo came back from injury with a bang, scoring inside seven minutes of his season debut. Real Madrid have won all three of their games, scoring 10 goals while conceding just three times. They won both meetings against Espanyol last 6-0 last season and at 3/10, they are a banker bet.

Monday 19 September

5/4 Alaves | 43/20 | Deportivo La Coruna 47/20 (20:45)

Promoted Alaves dealt champions Barcelona a shock 2-1 defeat at the Camp Nou last Saturday. Mauricio Pellegrino's side were fantastic throughout the match and they’ll be high on confidence against Deportivo on Monday night. Prior to that win, Alaves drew their opening matches against Atletico Madrid and Sporting Gijon. Deportivo La Coruna are winless in two matches after a goalless draw at Real Betis and 1-0 loss at home to Athletic Bilbao. Alaves have impressed so far and I fancy them to claim maximum points against Deportivo.
