After months of speculation, Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has finally confirmed he will be joining Premier League club Manchester United for next season.

Rumours of Ibrahimovic's next destination began to circulate as early as February when the 34-year-old announced he would not be extending his deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils were always touted as favourites to sign the former Barcelona man, but both parties have managed to contain the news until now.

The revelation comes in the wake of Ibrahimovic's retirement from international football after he revealed during the Euros that he would not play for Sweden again after the tournament and they were unable to progress past the group stage.

The tall striker took to his Instagram account to announce: "Time to let the world know. My next destination is Manchester United."

No other information has yet been offered by Ibrahimovic, his representatives or Manchester United, but his words are fairly conclusive.

United were looking to add firepower after they struggled to find the back of the net for much of the 2015/16 campaign, scoring just 49 goals, which was 10 less than Everton who finished 11th and only one more than Sunderland who avoided relegation by just two points.

Ibrahimovic scored 113 times in 122 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG, but it remains to be seen if he will be able to have as much success in England.
