MARTINEZ ACCUSES TERRY

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has accused John Terry of being part of a campaign to lure John Stones to Chelsea.

There has been talk of the Premier League champions preparing a third bid for 21-year-old defender Stones after so far having £20m and £26m offers rejected.

Chelsea captain Terry added fuel to the fire earlier this week when he told Sky Sports News HQ: "One day, I won't be in the team but Chelsea are looking to the likes of John Stones for the future, so the club will continue to grow and do well."

Martinez responded to this by saying: “That is wrong; that is illegal," the Spaniard told the Daily Telegraph of Terry's comment. "The rules don't allow you to comment on players who are registered at other clubs in that open manner. That is disappointing."

It is reported that Fiorentina will sign Borini initially on loan for the season then make the deal permanent for around £4m next summer.

SALAH JOINS ROMA

The Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah has joined Roma on a season-long loan, the Premier League side announced.

UNITED IN FOR BALE?

Manchester United reportedly made TWO £100m bids for Gareth Bale this summer.

The Welshman has continually been linked with United this summer after a disappointing second season at the Bernabeu.

He was often the scapegoat for Real's failure to stop Barcelona's dominance, receiving abuse from the Los Blancos support on more than one occasion.

And Louis van Gaal was desperate to bring him back to the Premier League in a world-record deal, reports the Sun.

It is claimed the Dutchman made two separate bids for Bale - in an attempt to force Real to cough up £40million for David de Gea.

"I played a pretty good game tonight and now we'll have to see what happens next," he said.

The 19-year-old made headlines on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia, scoring a hat-trick during the opening match against a Singapore XI.

Manchester City are waiting for Real Madrid playmaker Isco to give them nod before they try to bring him to the Etihad once again, according to Mundo Deportivo.

City were close to signing the Spain midfielder in the summer of 2013 but eventually lost out to Madrid, who snapped him up from Malaga.

Despite impressing on a regular basis, Isco was frequently left out of Real Madrid’s starting line-up when everyone was fit under previous coach Carlo Ancelotti and he fears a repeat situation under the Italian’s replacement Rafa Benitez.

According to Mundo Deportivo, City’s manager Manuel Pellegrini, director of football Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano are monitoring Isco’s situation closely and are waiting for him to indicate that he wants to leave the Bernabeu for the Etihad.

It now looks as though Ramos will stay at the club and pen a new long-term deal, but Madrid still retain an interest in both Valencia centre-backs just in case Ramos’ situation is not sorted out.

Otamendi, who is also on Manchester United’s wishlist, wants to leave Valencia, while Mustafi is keen to stay put. According to AS, Madrid asked super-agent Jorge Mendes about Otamendi and were told they would have to stump up €50m to sign him from Valencia.

TRAORE IN TALKS WITH THREE EPL CLUBS

Barcelona starlet Adama Traore will visit the facilities of three Premier League clubs and negotiate with each of them this week, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The teenager’s future has been subject to heavy speculation in recent weeks and it was reported on Monday that he has already travelled to Merseyside to undergo a medical with Liverpool.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the winger, who has been granted permission to miss Barca B training sessions this week, will use his time in England to visit the facilities of Liverpool, Stoke City and Aston Villa and hold talks with all three Premier League sides before deciding his next destination.

Traore, who is under contract until 2018, has a €15m buyout clause. Barca would prefer to sell him rather than loan him out, although they would look to include a buyback clause into any transfer.

12:16
BARCA CLOSE IN ON GERSON

Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Fluminense starlet Gerson after the player rejected the chance to join Roma, according to Sport.

The 18-year-old is one of the hottest young talents in Brazilian football and several big European sides have shown an interest in him.

Barca reportedly paid Fluminense €3m to secure a preference right on the teenager, but Roma jumped to the front of the queue after tabling a formal offer of €15m. However, the player’s father met Fluminense officials on Monday to tell them that he wants to reject Roma’s proposal as he has his heart set on moving to Barcelona instead.

Fluminense and Barca are now expected to put the finishing touches on a €12m deal over the coming days.

09:53
BENITEZ: BALE AND BENZEMA STAYING

Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez remains confident Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema will be at the Bernabeu this coming season despite ongoing speculation over their futures.

Benitez told a press conference ahead of Tuesday's Audi Cup clash against Tottenham in Munich: "Gareth is a huge player for us and I know that he's happy.”

"I'm not going to talk about offers. Everything is well and he's going to have a good season with us I'm sure."

Barcelona are believed to have made it clear that any prospective buyer would have to pay the £22m release clause in the player's contract to initiate talks and no club has yet done so.

RAFAEL SET FOR LYON SWITCH

Manchester United defender Rafael Da Silva has arrived in France ahead of his move to Lyon, according to the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas.

The Brazilian has one year left on his contract and has been told he is not in manager Louis van Gaal’s first-team plans this season following the arrival of Matteo Darmian.

Aulas confirmed the 25-year-old’s arrival in Lyon, although the two clubs are yet to agree a transfer fee.

He tweeted: “Raphael has arrived from Manchester U. We’re waiting for an agreement with MU on the transfer. He’s in a very Brazilian good mood.”

14:05
‘DI MARIA JOINING BIGGER CLUB’

Thiago Silva believes Angel Di Maria will be making a step up when he leaves Manchester United for Paris Saint Germain.

Di Maria will undergo a medical in Qatar today after PSG agreed a fee of £44.5million to sign the Argentina winger from Manchester United.

And Silva believes the Ligue 1 champions now only trail Real Madrid and Barcelona among Europe’s elite clubs, highlighting the capture of Di Maria as evidence of PSG's growing stature.

"People now need to respect PSG as one of the big clubs in Europe," Silva said. "Real Madrid and Barcelona are probably on another level, but after that if you join PSG you are you probably taking a step up."

PSG knocked out Chelsea on their way to the Champions League semi-finals last season, a fact not lost on Silva.

"We went further than any English clubs in Europe last year," he added.

11:18
SPURS DEFENDER ON BARCA’S RADAR

Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen and Monaco’s Aymen Abdennour are on Barcelona’s defensive shortlist, reports Sport.

The Camp Nou giants want to bring in an experienced left-footed centre-back during this transfer window and Monaco’s Abdennour is their top target. The Tunisia international is available for €25m but Barca feel they could secure his services for a lower fee. The player himself has publicly expressed his desire to move to the Camp Nou.

According to Sport, Barca are unlikely to open negotiations with Monaco until they have sold Manchester United target Pedro, and they want €30m for the Spain forward.

Vertonghen, the Belgium international, is a long-term target for Barca and would also offer the ability to provide cover at left-back too, which would be particularly useful as Brazilian Adriano is expected to join Roma in a €6m deal.

09:33
MARTINEZ: STONES PART OF EVERTON’S FUTURE

Everton boss Roberto Martinez remains confident of holding onto centre-back John Stones, despite Chelsea’s interest.

The Blues have already had two bids rejected by the Toffees and Martinez insists Stones is a key part the club’s future.

He said: “Clearly he is a player that we admire, clearly that is going to be the same in other clubs. They are going to be admiring his ability and what he is as a footballer but he is an Everton player and as you can imagine he is a big part of what we are trying to achieve in the future.”

09:31
PEDRO ‘HEADING TO ENGLAND’

Barcelona forward Pedro is set for a move to England, according to the player’s mother.

The 28-year-old has been touted for a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, with Louis van Gaal reportedly seeking a replacement for the PSG-bound Angel Di Maria.

Jaime Lorenzo, the president of the Canary Islands-based team Raqui San Isidro where Pedro played as a youngster before joining Barca, has fuelled such speculation by revealing that the forward’s mother believes her son is set for the Premier League.

“The other day Pedro’s mother mentioned that her son is on his way to England,” Lorenzo told Spanish radio show El Larguero.

09:29
GRIEZMANN FOCUSED ON ATLETICO

France intenrational Antoine Griezmann insists he is solely focused on life at Atletico Madrid.

The 24-year-old shone after joining Atletico from Real Sociedad last summer, managing 25 goals in all competitions in his debut season at the Calderon club. That form prompted interest in him from across the Continent – Bayern Munich and Chelsea were linked with a move for him earlier this summer.

Despite the speculation, Griezmann insists no formal offers arrived and says he plans to stay at Atletico.

When asked about interest in him from other teams, he told AS: “Nothing from anyone reached me and I repeat that I only want to help the team. I only think about Atletico. I have just arrived at this club and I want to grow even more with Atletico. Therefore my thoughts are fixed here.”

09:28
ARSENAL PLAN BENZEMA RAID

Fresh from their community shield win over Chelsea yesterday, Arsenal are strill being linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

According to Spanish publication AS, Arsene Wenger has set aside £45.6m to prise the France international away from the Bernabeu.

The report suggests Benzema is a priority for the north London club, who are looking to add a centre back and a striker before the close of the transfer window.

However, after yesterday's win at Wembley Wenger was questioned on the Benzema rumours and he replied: "No, honestly, no. I don’t know who brings that up."

09:27
DI MARIA TO HAVE MEDICAL WITH PSG

Angel Di Maria is set to undergo a medical with Paris Saint-Germain in Doha on Monday ahead of a proposed £44m move from Manchester United.

United paid a British record £59.7m fee to Real Madrid last August for the 27-year-old and were understood to want more than the £44m figure quoted in several national newspapers on Friday.

But a deal has finally been struck and Di Maria, who was given an extended holiday after competing for Argentina at the Copa America but failed to meet up with the rest of the United squad on their pre-season tour of the United States, looks poised for a move to France.
