GOOD DAY

That's it from us. We'll be back on Monday morning with all the latest transfer news and done deals.

15:42
DELPH LATEST

Fabian Delph has done another U-turn and is set to sign for Manchester City in an £8million deal, report the Manchester Evening News.

The Aston Villa midfielder was all set to make the move last weekend, when he was expected to have a medical and complete the transfer in time to join the Blues on their pre-season tour to Australia.

But that deal fell apart on Saturday morning when Delph announced he had changed his mind and would be staying at Villa.

Now, it seems, the England player has decided to go ahead with the original move after unconfirmed reports that he was having a medical in Wilmslow.

Delph had previously pledged his commitment to Aston Villa.

15:15
DELPH TO CITY BACK ON?

A week ago Fabian Delph said he was not leaving Aston Villa to join Manchester City, but could the move be back on?

There is a picture doing the rounds on social media apparently of Delph going for a medical and Manchester Evening News reporter James Robson has just tweeted: "Confirmed City move for Delph is back on".

14:45
ATLETI IN LUIS TALKS

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed the Spanish club is in talks with Chelsea regarding left-back Filipe Luis's return.

The Brazil international joined Chelsea in a £15.8m transfer last summer, but after making just nine starts for the Premier League champions, the full back is reportedly keen to return to Spain.

"There are negotiations in place but I don't know how fruitful they will be," Cerezo said to the Spanish media. "Filipe Luis is a magnificent player.

"We would be delighted if he comes back and I think that in the end, we will find a solution.

"As always, the financial aspect takes precedence over the sentimental aspect but I believe a deal can be reached."

14:06
ARSENAL EYE BUNDESLIGA STAR

Arsenal are set to make an improved offer for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports in Germany.

The report suggests the Gunners are set to make an improved offer of more than £30m for the Gabon international after failing with an initial £28.7m bid.

However, Dortmund are understood to be unwilling to accept any offer below £31m after the club allowed Ciro Immobile to join Sevilla last week.

13:45
POGBA NOT FOR SALE SAY JUVE

Juventus have insisted they have no interest in parting with Manchester City and Barcelona target Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Champions League finalists, with Barca presidential candidate Joan Laporta promising Pogba would play for the Catalan club next year if he is elected.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola backed those comments, declaring there "is a strong possibility that Pogba will play for Barcelona if Laporta is elected."

But Giuseppe Marotta, Juventus' direcotr general has hit back, declaring: "Whoever is interested in the player needs to talk to Juventus and not with Mino Raiola, who is nonetheless his (Pogba's) agent.

"But the player is not for sale."

Marotta added: "We have negotiated with Barca in recent months. We have done so in a serious and correct manner as it should be between two teams that have a lot of history and importance in world football.

"The situation is very clear between Barca and Juventus after the meeting we had in Milan.

"Barca made an offer and we replied.

"In any case Barca cannot make any signings and Juve does not want to sell."

13:13
JOHN STONES UPDATE

John Stones arrivesChelsea have had a £20million bid for John Stones rejected.

The Blues are keen to have Stones in their back line, learning from John Terry and rotating in and out the lineup with Gary Cahill.

Stones, widely viewed as a future England captain, fits the bill as the ball-playing future of the club, alongside the powerful young Frenchman Kurt Zouma.

Everton are closing in on Jonny Evans of Manchester United, and he'd expect to be a first-team regular at Goodison Park, alongside captain Phil Jagielka.

Roberto Martinez would be loath to lose Stones, but if Chelsea return with an improved bid and start touching £25-30million for a player who is still viewed merely as potential - no matter how high - then the Toffees may be forced to reconsider.

12:52
BENITEZ SPEAKS

Rafa Benitez has had a busy day, telling reporters that he sees Sergio Ramos as an 'integral' part of his Real Madrid side and he's also discussed the goalkeeping position at the Bernabeu.

Here he his in his own words, discussing the big David De Gea-shaped elephant in the room:

12:02
BAYERN NEAR VIDAL

Bayern Munich are close to signing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, but chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says a deal is not yet done.

"I've read about it and I'm not going to hide the fact that we are interested in him, but I read that it was all wrapped up and I cannot confirm that," Rummenigge told reporters.

"As I've said, we're interested, but we're not yet so far that we've discussed details and signed contracts, so we need a bit of patience. I hope at the end of the day he will come."

11:30

Everton have turned down a £20m offer from Chelsea for defender John Stones.

Jose Mourinho has been quiet in the transfer window so far this summer, but a move for young Toffees defender would certainly put the cat among the pigeons.

Mourinho would presumably see the England defender as the heir apparent to John Terry, but he would surely have a fight on his hands as Everton would not let the highly-rated 21-year-old go without a fight.

11:00
POGBA UPDATE

It's about that time of the day when we check up on Paul Pogba's future.

And yup, looks like he's going to Barcelona today.

That's according to the Frenchman's agent Mino Raiola, who has spoken to Spanish news agency EFE.

He's said that the Juventus powerhouse has "A good chance of paying for Barca" if Joan Laporta win the Catalan side's forthcoming presidential elections.

"First he'll need to talk to me and then to Juventus, but it can be done," Raiola continued.

10:35
LIVERPOOL AND CHELSEA LOCK HORNS FOR PEDRO

Liverpool and Chelsea will go head-to-head in the race to sign Barcelona forward Pedro, according to reports in Spanish publication Sport.

Pedro has a £22m buyout clause in his contract in Catalonia and is considering his future at the club with the European Championships just a year way.

Brendan Rodgers could have a tough job on his hands convincing the Spaniard to swap the Nou Camp for Anfield after Liverpool failed to qualify for this season's Champions League.

10:30
SPURS IN FOR CHELSEA'S VICTOR MOSES

Victor Moses of Stoke City celebrates after scoring his team's 1st goal to make it 1-0Tottenham have made an £8million move for Chelsea winger Victor Moses.

Moses, 24, spent last season on loan at Stoke and was farmed out to Liverpool for the one before that, but wants to return to London - where he grew up and began his pro career with Crystal Palace.

It does not look like the Nigeria international has much of a future at Stamford Bridge - but Chelsea may not allow him to go to one of their fiercest London rivals.

There is bad blood between the two clubs, which includes Chelsea luring director of football Frank Arnesen away from White Hart Lane a decade ago and Tottenham refusing to allow Luka Modric to move to Stamford Bridge in 2011 and selling him to Real Madrid the following year instead.

Spurs are looking for a new wide-man.

09:42
RAHMAN IN, LUIS OUT?

Filipe Luis is closing in on a return to Atletico Madrid, with Chelsea confident of landing speedy Abdul Baba Rahman as his replacement.

Left-back Luis is expected to rejoin his previous club within days — after just 12 months, and 15 appearances, with the newly-crowned Premier League champions.

He signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge after arriving for £15.8million last summer.

09:08
BENTEKE: LIVERPOOL'S BID IS IN
Christian Benteke celebrates scoring for Aston Villa against Stoke City with a heart themed celebration on March 23, 2014

There's been a development in the day's big story, as PA are reporting that Liverpool have now submitted their £32.5million bid for Christian Benteke.

Which, as you'll know by now, is the exact amount that triggers the Belgian's release clause, so the Reds are a medical and personal terms away from landing their man.

This comes after news emerged that the striker would miss Villa's pre-season friendly against Sporting Braga in Albufeira later today.

08:53
'RAMOS IS STAYING'

Spain defender Sergio Ramos is not leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United and is an integral part of the club's plans, according to new coach Rafa Benitez.

"In terms of Sergio Ramos, there's a lot of talk about his situation," Benitez told reporters in Melbourne on Friday.

"For me, he is an enormous professional. In person, he applies himself, he does everything that the team and I ask of him.

"And for me, the matter (is that) the president has already commented that he is staying with the club.

"I have spoken to him at length in the summer about his ideas, about his future. I see Sergio as an integral part of our team, he's a winner and that's what we need in our team."

08:48
BENTEKE TO SIT OUT VILLA'S FRIENDLY WITH MOVE CLOSE

Christian Benteke celebrates after scoringLiverpool are poised to activate Christian Benteke’s release clause to finally get the Aston Villa striker.

Benteke was still at Villa’s Portugal training camp on Thursday night, but the Reds HAVE now finally decided to meet the Belgian international’s £32.5million buy-out clause.

The 24-year-old is unlikely to play in Villa’s friendly against Sporting Braga in Albufeira today, ahead of becoming the second most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been chasing Benteke all summer, but the Villans stood firm over his valuation.

And following the £49m sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City earlier in the week, Liverpool have decided to cough up for the 6ft 3in frontman.

Benteke scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for Villa over the past three seasons after Paul Lambert bought him.

He hit form towards the end of last season under new boss Tim Sherwood, scoring a dozen goals in his last 12 matches.

SPURS DETERMINED TO SIGN MCCARTHY

So according to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are prepared to offer cash plus Aaron Lennon for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

Roberto Martinez insisted the 24-year-old was not for sale amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester City.

However, that will not deter Tottenham who believe the 24-year-old is willing to join them.

Everton boss Martinez said: 'He’s not for sale. James McCarthy is a top performer. He has shown that over recent years. We know what he brings with young legs and good energy.'

McCarthy has grown frustrated after Everton promised to revise the five-year contract he signed on joining from Wigan for £13m in 2013.

The Republic of Ireland international was promised increments based on appearances and performances but the ones outlined have not been put in place and he remains one of the squad's lower earners.

Despite reports of a new deal no talks have been brokered by Everton with other players, and Martinez, revising contracts since.

Tottenham value Lennon at £9m, even though he has one year left on contract, and will offer the 28-year-old winger plus around £12m for McCarthy. Everton will probably rebuff such a bid and the saga could drag on.

REDS SET TO TRIGGER BENTEKE'S RELEASE CLAUSE

Christian Benteke celebrates Villa's second goal during the FA Cup semi-final between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Wembley stadiumLiverpool are on the brink of completing a £32.5million deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

The Reds have decided to trigger the release clause in the Belgium international's contract and he's set to become the second most expensive signing in the club's history.

Liverpool have been chasing Benteke all summer but had previously been unwilling to pay the asking price.

With Villa desperate to keep hold of Benteke and unwilling to negotiate on the price, a stand-off had developed in recent weeks but the impasse has now been broken by the Reds.

Following the £49million sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City, Liverpool have decided to quickly re-invest a large chunk of that windfall in the 24-year-old 6ft 3ins frontman.

FILIPE LUIS HEADING BACK TO ATLETI NEXT WEEK?

There's some certainty from Marca today with regards Filipe Luis and a potential return to Atletico Madrid.

The Brazilian left-back has failed to displace Cesar Azpilicueta at Chelsea as Jose Mourinho's first chase and just 12 months after leaving the Vicente Calderon, he's been tipped to return.

According to Marca, an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for his return, and he'll apparently be presented next week.

Atleti tried a number of players at left-back last term, but all flattered to deceive. Thus, a return makes sense.

PSG'S DI MARIA MOVE GETS CLOSER

PSG are confident of closing a deal for Manchester United forward Angel Di Maria this weekend, claim L'Equipe.

The Argentina international, 27, only moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid last summer in a British-record transfer, and is contracted to the Red Devils until the end of June 2019.

Louis van Gaal wants Di Maria to stay, but does not want any unhappy players in his squad, meaning he will be sold if the right deal is made, according to the Guardian.

BAYERN TARGET VIDAL

Chile's midfielder Arturo Vidal celebrates after scoring against Argentina during the penalty shootoutGerman giants Bayern Munich have reportedly made a shock move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal.

The Chilean midfielder shone for the Bianconeri last season, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League after four years of unmitigated success in Turin.

Vidal, who fired Chile to Copa America glory over the summer, has won four successive Serie A titles in his time with Juve, after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.

According to Chilean newspaper La Cuarta, Vidal has already told his family that he will be going to Bayern.

Sources in Italy, meanwhile, believed the player has agreed a four-year deal with Munich, although the Bundesliga champions have not yet secured a deal with their Serie A counterparts.

ROMANS TARGET ADRIANO

Roma are keen on signing Barcelona left-back Adriano this summer, say La Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, the Italian sports daily also report that the Giallorossi may struggle to lure the player to the Stadio Olimpico next season due to Barca's current transfer ban.

BARCA TO DECIDE PEDRO FUTURE

Barcelona forward Pedro is set to go on the club's pre-season tour of the US, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Spain international has been the subject of offers from Premier League clubs this summer, including the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, the Catalan sports daily say the new board at the Nou Camp will decide the player's future at the club.

STAMBOULI AGREES PSG DEAL

Spurs midfielder Benjamin Stambouli has agreed personal terms with PSG, claim RMC.

However, the French radio station also say the two clubs are still in talks over a fee for the player.

The Ligue 1 champions are understood to have offered £4.5m for the 24-year-old, with the north Londoners demanding £6.2m.

10:27
HAMMERS CLOSE IN ON SONG

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is close to rejoining West Ham, Slaven Bilic has confirmed.

"Although I said I'm not going to discuss players from other teams, he is somewhere in between," Bilic said when asked about the prospect of Song moving to Upton Park on a permanent basis.

“He played here on loan last year and he's a little bit injured. I don't deny that he was a great player who did really well last year and I would like him to stay with us."

10:23
REAL NEAR NEW NO. 1

Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, reports AS.

Casilla is the man Real want to replace the departed Iker Casillas and the two clubs want to get the deal finalised as soon as possible.

Espanyol rebuffed Madrid’s first offer of €4m, but AS says the deal will be completed for a fee of around €6m. Madrid already own 50 per cent of Casilla’s rights, having sold him to Espanyol back in 2007.

Espanyol could also look to replace the 'keeper with Malaga’s Guillermo Ochoa, while they also want to take Real starlet Marco Asensio on loan too.

10:19
GIOVANI JOINS LA GALAXY

LA Galaxy have confirmed the arrival of Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos from Villarreal.

The 26-year-old Mexican joins the club as a Designated Player, after the club used newly-created targeted allocation money to change Omar Gonzalez's status.

“Giovani is a special player,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. “He has experience and success competing at the highest level and we believe he will only continue to develop. We are happy to add him to our roster and have confidence he can be an integral part of our success going forward.”

Giovani joins in a deal worth around £5million, and he'll link up with Steven Gerrard and former Spurs teammate Robbie Keane.

09:36
VALDES IN VALENCIA TALKS

Victor Valdes' representatives are in talks with Valencia over a move to the Mestalla club, reports Marca.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, who left the goalkeeper out of his squad for his side’s US tour, has put the Spaniard up for sale.

Valencia are desperately seeking an experienced goalkeeper as their No.1 Diego Alves is sidelined with a serious knee injury.
However, the two parties have not yet struck an agreement over financial terms or the length of the contract. Valdes wants a two-year deal, while Valencia would rather offer him a one-year contract with the option for a second year based on his performances.

Los Che have other goalkeepers on their shortlist, namely PSG’s Salvatore Sirigu and Sporting Lisbon’s Rui Patricio, if they are unable to reach an agreement with Valdes.

09:29
MORE ON BENTEKE

United are set to activate Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke's £32.5m release clause, according to reports in The Sun.

The Midlands club are reportedly fearful that Benteke could seal his move to Old Trafford as early as this weekend.

Benteke dropped a hint on Twitter on Wednesday that he fancies a move to United, favouriting a tweet linking him with a transfer to the Premier League giants.

08:53
BLUES EYE WITSEL

Chelsea are interested in signing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel, according to reports in the Sun.

However, the Premier League champions will have to fork out a whopping £24m in order to bring the Belgium international to Stamford Bridge.

08:49
VALDES KICKED TO THE CURB

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes will be sold after manager Louis van Gaal claimed he "refused to play" in the reserves.

The 33-year-old Spain international was a surprise omission from the pre-season squad currently touring the US.

"He doesn't follow my philosophy. There is no place for someone like that," said Van Gaal of his January signing.

Valdes, who won La Liga six times with Barcelona, joined United as De Gea's back-up after recovering from major knee surgery.

After new signings Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian faced questions from the media, Van Gaal responded to questions about Valdes' absence.

He said: "Last year, he refused to play in the second team and there are other aspects you need as a keeper at United.

"When you are not willing to follow those principles, there is only one way and that is out.

"It is a big disappointment. It is a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate, gave him a contract and then he is fit to play."

08:32
JACKSON FINALLY JOINS ATLETI

Jackson finally joins AtletiAtlético have officially announced the signing of Colombian striker Jackson Martínez.

The forward is the club's third new addition for next season, following the arrivals of Luciano Vietto and Yannick Carrasco.

Atlético and Porto agreed some time ago that the deal would be done for the sum specified in Jackson Martínez's release clause: 35 million euros.

Jackson was firmly committed to joining the 'Rojiblancos' as soon as he was aware that the club was interested in him, and he will now join Atlético backed by his prolific goalscoring figures, having netted almost 100 times for Porto over the course of three seasons. In fact, he was the top scorer in the Portuguese league in all of those seasons, scoring 26, 20 and 21 goals respectively.

15:19
ALL SET FOR DE GEA

Reports in Spain suggest Real will play hardball with United and try and sign De Gea on a free, offering him a €5m signing-on fee in 12 months time.

Real Madrid are reportedly willing to wait until next summer to land David De Gea.

The Manchester United stopper has been identified as Real's first choice to replace the departed Iker Casillas at the Bernabeu - although they are yet to make an official approach.

While United are braced for a bid from the Spanish champions, they are ready to dig their heels and have included him in their squad for their pre-season tour of the US.

The Red Devils were said to be willing to let De Gea see out his contract at Old Trafford, with the Spaniard having one year remaining.

And according to Marca, Real are now ready to wait 12 months and get their man on a free transfer next summer rather than cough up the £35m United want.

It now remains to be seen if United would be willing to lose their prize asset for nothing, when he could fetch a substantial transfer fee.

14:47
DE BRUYNE NEXT TO JOIN MAN CITY?

Manchester City are ready to make another significant move in the transfer market with a £40m bid for Wolfsburg forward Kevin De Bruyne.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wolfsburg, who have offered the Belgium international a new deal, are holding out for £50 but City believe they are in pole position in the race for his signature.

The report suggests De Bruyne is willing to listen to what City can offer him as he looks to make a decision on his future.

PSG and Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested.

13:45
UNITED IN FOR BENTEKE

Manchester United are ready to rival Liverpool in the race for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to the Daily Mail.

With Radamel Falcao already through the exit door and Robin van Persie set to follow, Louis van Gaal is on the hunt for striking reinforcements. United are monitoring Benteke’s position but have not made any firm contact with Villa.

Liverpool, who are unwilling to meet Benteke’s £32.5m buy-out clause, are still thought to be favourites to land the Belgium international.

13:14
ARSENAL IN FOR GHOULAM

One player who may leave Napoli is defender Faouzi Ghoulam who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

According to MediaSet, Arsenal have already made a £10million offer to take the 24-year-old to the Emirates.

He made 21 Serie A appearances last term, but 10 of those came off the bench.

Ghoulam could provide cover for Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at left-back.

HIGUAIN SET FOR NAPOLI STAY

Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain will not leave Napoli this summer, according to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Higuain has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United thought to be keen to acquire the 27-year-old's services.

The former Real Madrid star has three years left on his contract with Napoli and the Serie A club have no intention of letting him leave.

"There is absolutely no chance that Higuain will leave," De Laurentiis told Italian TV station Mediaset. "Gonzalo is a Napoli player. I have made his (release) clause clear in order to stop the constant speculation that appears in the press. There is a precise clause."

UNITED MOVING FOR ROMERO

Sergio German Romero of SampdoriaManchester United are also eyeing a move for Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero according to various reports.

The 28-year-old was released by Sampdoria at the end of last season, and is available on a free transfer.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the goalkeeping position at Old Trafford next season, with current keepers David De Gea and Victor Valdes both rumoured to be on the move this summer.

De Gea continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid, despite jetting off to the USA to play a part in United's pre-season tour.

Valdes, on the other hand, was left behind by United, and has reported interest from Antalyaspor in Turkey and Valencia.

OTAMENDI LATEST

Nicolas Otamendi wants to seal his move to Manchester United in the next 10 days.

The defender has been a transfer target for the Red Devils throughout the summer, and is reportedly threatening to not turn up for Valencia training until his future is resolved.

He is due to report back for pre-season on July 27, and is keen to push through the move before that date.

United have struggled to replace long-term defensive partnership Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, and Van Gaal knows he needs reinforcements to aid their title challenge.

The interest in Otamendi has taken a back seat while the Old Trafford outfit chase Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, and Los Blancos are also monitoring the situation, should Ramos move to the Premier League.

TRANSFER TARGETS - PEDRO
11:22

Chelsea could be on the verge of completing a deal for Barcelona winger Pedro, after it was reported that they had triggered the Spaniard's release clause.

Here's what Chelsea fans could come to expect from Pedro should he leave Barcelona and head to Stamford Bridge this summer...

10:43
UNITED TO UP BID FOR RAMOS

Manchester United have reportedly made a fresh €45million bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, as they continue their efforts to land the Spain centre-back.

They will have a fight on their hands if they want to land their number one defensive target though, as Spanish publication AS report that Madrid are demanding the Red Devils cough up €90million for the 29-year-old's services.

This comes after Real president Florentino Perez looked to have closed to door on any potential Ramos sale when speaking at Iker Casillas' farewell appearance at the Bernabeu earlier this week.

"There are players on contract that the club does not want to let go and are not going to leave," he said, as fans chanted "Ramos is not for sale".

United have reportedly set aside the money for an renewed push to sign the 128-capped Spain international and would pay him €11million-per-season for five years.

This comes after reports suggested new boss Rafa Benitez is set to offer Ramos the captaincy at the 10-time European Champions, following the departure of Casillas.

Ramos has joined Madrid on their pre-season tour of Australia where they will face Roma and Manchester City, in a match which could see Raheem Sterling make his City debut.

REDS STILL NOT KEEN ON £32MILLION FOR BENTEKE

Brendan Rodgers will use Liverpool's transfer windfall to launch a bid for Christian Benteke.

But he faces a major battle to get the striker, with Aston Villa determined to hold out for all of the £32million buy-out clause written into Benteke's contract.

Liverpool may be reluctant to match Villa's price, even after completing the £49m deal - a record for an Englishman - which saw Raheem Sterling join Manchester City on Tuesday.

Kop boss Rodgers is hopeful that Belgium international Benteke wants to move to Anfield and has made the 24-year-old his No1 transfer target this summer.

PEDRO DEAL MOVES CLOSER?

Speculation is appearing in the media almost on a daily basis these days and with Pedro having had the buy-out clause in his contract lowered from an astonishing £140 million to a more reasonable £21 million, the move appears to be a viable one.

At 27-years-of-age, Pedro is in the prime of his career and it appears that his coach, at the Camp Nou Luis Enrique, is resigned to the player making his own mind up, with the Spaniard quoting as having remarked,

"I don't want anyone to leave but there is a clause. We have to respect his decision. I do not deceive anyone and I do not guarantee anyone playing time. It will be his personal decision."

According to the Daily Star, the Spaniard will complete a £22m move to Chelsea after meeting with Barca boss Luis Enrique today.

UNITED KEEN ON SWAP DEAL

Despite reports in France linking Angel Di Maria with a £42.8m move to PSG, reports in England claim Manchester United have not given up on a swap deal for the Argentine winger with striker Edinson Cavani.

The Daily Express claims PSG have bid £40m for Di Maria but United have asked about Cavani.

United value Di Maria at around £50m but have reportedly told the French champions they would be happy with a straight swap for Cavani.

STERLING JOINS MAN CITY

Let's start with the biggest news.

Raheem Sterling is officially a Manchester City player after signing a five-year contract in a deal which now makes him the most expensive English footballer ever.

He will now fly out to Australia to join his new team-mates on their pre-season tour. Sterling has been handed the No 7 jersey, a number vacated because of James Milner's departure the other way to Liverpool.

CITY TO BID FOR DE BRUYNE?

Manchester City could be set to take their summer spending over the £100m mark after reportedly lining up a bid for Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium international has established himself as one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe since joining the Bundesliga side from Chelsea in January 2014.

The attacking midfielder racked up over 20 assists for his side last term as they finished runners-up to Bayern Munich in Germany’s top division, and his performances have attracted the interest of City.

The Citizens, who will shell out an eye-watering £49m for Raheem Sterling, are also on the hunt for a new midfielder, and De Bruyne is the man in their sights.

PSG LINE UP DI MARIA BID

According to the Daily Mail, Paris Saint-Germain are willing to pay £43million for Manchester United winger Angel di Maria and hope to have him on their own US tour.

The French champions, who are due to face United in Chicago on July 29, have already outlined a five-year contract to match Di Maria's personal terms at Old Trafford but crucially what remains is whether United consent to the deal.

Di Maria joined United for £59.7million last year but has struggled after being dropped from the team and enduring a break-in at his Cheshire home.

LATEST ON PEDRO

FC Barcelona (crest).svgBarcelona man Pedro has come to a verbal agreement with Chelsea as the player spoke to Jose Mourinho and was convinced to join.

The 27-year-old is aware that should he stay at Barcelona, his chances of making the Spain squad for the Euro 2016 are less than what they'd be elsewhere.

For that reason, Pedro is set to call time on his Barcelona career, having arrived as a teenager in 2004.

Pedro went on to make 318 appearances for the first team, scoring 98 goals and winning an incredible 19 major honours.

Manager Luis Enrique has said: "I do not want him to go, but there is a clause and if he wants to go.

“I hope that the relationship will not break, but I respect his decision. [Marc] Bartra is in a similar situation and he stayed.”

Reliable football journalist Tancredi Palmeri has confirmed that the rumours are true via his twitter account.

WENGER NOT RULING OUT SIGNINGS

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to close the door on the club's summer business, but feels the club are in a strong position.

Arsenal's one summer of the signing has been Petr Cech, and while Manchester United have brought in four players already, Wenger is not panicking.

“I don’t close the door,” he said. “If we can find any player who can strengthen the squad then we will. We have strengthened the squad already and I believe part of the success of the team is down to the level of cohesion."

Chile's Alexis Sanchez celebrates after scoring the winning penaltyArsenal forward Alexis Sanchez will miss the Community Shield, and is likely to sit out the start of the Premier League season.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Sanchez will start training the day after Arsenal take on Chelsea in the traditional season curtain raiser at Wembley.

That is due to his involvement in Chile's gruelling Copa Ame

"He'll be back with us on the third of August and it takes about three weeks to competitive," Wenger said in Singapore where Arsenal are comrica campaign on home soil, a tournament which they won thanks to Sanchez's decisive penalty in the shootout against Argentina.

"It could take him a little bit less time [to get match fit] but he'll miss our first game."

DROGBA SET TO JOIN THE MLS

Didier Drogba is set to follow in the footsteps of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard by heading Stateside.

The Chelsea legend is still on the look out for a new club after leaving his second spell at Stamford Bridge - helping the team to Premier League and Capital One Cup glory.

And a host of MLS clubs have expressed an interest in the veteran striker, New York City FC - Lampard's latest side - are said to be interested in Drogba.

The forward will give serious consideration to a move to the USA this summer.

He also has lucrative offers from the Middle East, but the 37-year-old is said to prefer a move to Major League Soccer.

11:05
MOSES TO PLAY FOR CHELSEA NEXT SEASON?

Stoke manager Mark Hughes thinks he will fail in his attempt to bring Victor Moses back to the Britannia stadium this summer.

Moses spent last season on loan with City but Hughes has been frustrated so far in his attempts to bring him back to the Potteries.

Hughes told Sky Sports News reporters: "I think Chelsea have taken a view that they would like to keep him. Of course, they may go into the market again and that might change that idea that they have.

"He did really well for us last year despite some injuries but it looks like Victor could play a part for Chelsea this year."

ATLETICO WANT LUIS BACK

Atletico Madrid remain keen on re-signing Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis, reports Marca.

The Spanish capital club sold the Brazilian left-back to Chelsea last summer but he had a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, where he struggled to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.

ABIDAL: PEDRO MUST STAY

Former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal says the Nou Camp side will go all out to keep forward Pedro if Joan Laporta triumphs in the club’s forthcoming presidential elections.

Abidal, who played alongside Pedro during his playing days, will become Barca’s new sporting director if Laporta is voted in later this month.

“Players such as Pedro cannot be allowed to go,” he told news agency EFE. “I know him as a player but also as a person. He is a player who fits into the first team very well. When we won everything in 2009, the most important goals were his."

It was announced last night that AS Monaco had completed the signing of Stephan El Shaarawy from AC Milan.

Some reports have suggested an initial season-long loan. Others an outright €16million permanent deal.

Either way a perhaps unexpected move for a player once thought of as one of the most promising in all of Europe.

FORGET ABOUT THE PRICE TAG

City will invest £49 million (€69m) on the fleet-footed and tricky forward in the hope he can provide the sparkle to bring the Premier League trophy back to the Etihad Stadium.

Sterling will become the most expensive English player ever when he completes his move from Liverpool, the club where he made his name before controversially rejecting a new contract.

Sterling’s arrival will inject energy and youthful exuberance to a squad with an average age of around 29, with his quick turn of pace and versatility in attack.

The Englishman’s quest is to be a serious factor in ensuring Manchester City regain the league title and the club becomes a genuine continental heavyweight. Achieve this and his £49m fee will be viewed a snip.

Manchester City are expected to unveil Raheem Sterling today.

FALCAO'S CHELSEA SQUAD NUMBER REVEALED

Radamel Falcao has had his squad number revealed by Chelsea - and it's number 9.

Yep. The Colombian will sport the most famous of all numbers next term as he bids to get his form back on track after a down year on loan at Manchester United.

He'll want to do a little better than others who've worn the very same in Chelsea blue, though.

The likes of Fernando Torres, Mateja Kezman and, erm, Khalid Boulahrouz come to mind.

SERGIO RAMOS HANDED REAL CAPTAINCY?

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos looks dejected after a missed chanceManchester United may well have suffered a blow in their bid to land Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

Spanish media outlet Marca has reported that Los Blancos have offered Ramos the captaincy, following the departure of long-standing skipper Iker Casillas.

The Spain international was the vice-captain last season, and is one of the most senior players at the Bernabeu.

Reports earlier in the summer suggested Ramos had asked to leave the club, amid reports United were interested in signing him.

Louis van Gaal has made no secret of his desire to sign a central defender, after calling upon the services of youngsters Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair last season, but Real remain intent to keep him.

PEDRO OFFERS ACCEPTED

FC Barcelona (crest).svgBarcelona's Spain forward Pedro has revealed the La Liga champions have received offers for him after agreeing to reduce the size of his buyout clause amid reports he is poised to join English champions Chelsea.

Pedro, 27, has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the Spanish press, and lost his place in the Barca starting lineup following the arrival of Uruguay striker Luis Suarez last year.

"It's true, we agreed to reduce the value of the buyout clause and it's true there are offers," he said.

"I don't want to think about the future, I want to rest, remain calm, start pre-season on Wednesday with the squad and we will see what happens after that."

Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is keen on flogging Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain this summer - but only if the Serie A club receives an offer of his full £64.7m release clause.

The Argentine striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates.

"Sell Higuain for €90 million (£64.7m)? I’d like to sell him," De Laurentiis said.

"That way I can buy eight players for the club."

PEDRO HEADING TO CHELSEA?

It was reported on the weekend that Chelsea had joined the queue of clubs chasing Barcelona attacker Pedro.

Catalan newspaper Sport is now reporting that the Spain international -- who had reportedly rejected Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG to stay at the Camp Nou -- has changed his mind now Chelsea have made their move: he wants to go to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho apparently called Pedro in recent days, and after his ex-Barca teammate Cesc Fabregas followed up with a further phone chat, the 27-year-old's Cule heart is now set on a move to West London, where he is more likely to play regular football ahead of Euro 2016.

Barca are obviously going to be reluctant to cash in before the transfer ban expires in January, but Pedro has a €30 million buyout clause in his contract, and Chelsea are said to be ready to pay it once Barca's presidential election takes place on July 18.

Just in case Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger's imminent arrivals weren't enough, reports are now coming out that Manchester United have identified Edinson Cavani to replace the outgoing Robin van Persie.

The Guardian report that the Uruguayan is apparently the number one target for the Red Devils, but Paris Saint-Germain may insist on Angel Di Maria going the other way.

With Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as the only out-and-out strikers in the squad, another arrival would make sense.

LATEST FROM MAN UNITED

Manchester United have a light stretching session this morning before flying to Seattle to begin their two-and-a-half week pre-season tour.

New signings Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin are expected to take part in the session and join their new United team-mates on the 2.30pm flight from Manchester.

Fellow new signings Memphis Depay and Matteo Darmian will also travel as Louis van Gaal begins his preparations in earnest for the new campaign, which United kick off at home to Tottenham on August 8.

United keeper David De Gea is also expected to be on the plane, despite his future remaining unclear, with the 24-year-old still determined to join Real Madrid, having turned down a £200,000-a-week contract extension with the Reds.

Van Gaal wanted De Gea's situation resolved before leaving for the summer tour, preferring to work with the players he will have at his disposal for the season, but Real have so far failed to meet United's asking price of £35m, although it is understood a fee in the region of £30m is likely to be accepted.

Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin underwent medicals at United's AON Training Complex last night, with their £14m and £24m moves respectively set to be confirmed this morning, before the squad depart for their four game tour of the States.

SCHNEIDERLIN UPDATE

Morgan Schneiderlin completed a medical at Manchester United last night ahead of a £24million move from Southampton.

The midfielder arrived at United's AON Training Complex to go through the medical before penning a four-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months.

The arrival of Schneiderlin takes United's summer spending to close to £80million, following the signings of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger, with more to come.

United boss Louis van Gaal leaves with his squad for the club's two-and-a-half week tour of the US today and wanted Schneiderlin on the plane bound for Seattle at lunchtime.
