Moyes: Diving Deserves Punishment

Manchester United boss David Moyes believes simulation should warrant retrospective punishment, after Ashley Young was booked for diving at the weekend

The United midfielder took a tumble in the penalty box during his side’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday and was shown a yellow card.

But the incident, along with another in the same game which saw Young awarded a penalty and Palace defender Kagisho Dikgacoi sent off, has provoked much debate.

And following comments from Eagles chairman Steve Parish that cheats should face stricter punishments, Moyes agreed more needs to be done to deter offenders.

“I’ve said for many years we should have retrospective video for diving,” said Moyes.

The Scot admitted he can’t guarantee the England international behaving in the future.

“I’ve had a word with him privately and, as I said after the game, But I can’t promise that it won’t happen again with Young,” Moyes added.
